Wearable technology for slaying death

When you get serious about your health and fitness journey, and you like evidence-backed results like we do, you’ll want a wearable companion. Fitness trackers and are more than just step counters. Get one with a heart rate monitor, at least. If you get one with the ability to install apps, then it gets really fun. You can find particular apps for what you like to do: swimming, hiking, surfing, biking. . . whatever! It’s an extension of your phone and all that entails — notifications, reminders, communication, music, and so on.

Apple Watch

If you have an iPhone, you really should consider an Apple Watch for fitness tracking. Yes, the latest models are always expensive, but when they come out, the previous generations get less expensive. The most recent as of this writing is the Series 5, but I am ecstatically happy with my Series 3. I will update this with screen shots later, but I just want to put it out there.

Fitbit Versa or Charge

I haven’t use them myself, but by all reports these are closer in functionality to an Apple Watch as you can get. The Versa is more like a smartwatch, while the Charge is more of a very capable fitness tracker. You’ll have to decide which suits you better by reading reviews and comparing features. The same advice applies about saving money if you don’t need the latest-and-greatest, like these.

Budget Smart Watches

So, there was a time not too long ago that these were luxury items for the bourgeois. Then overseas engineers started cranking-up their copy machines, and now we have literally dozens of them for $50 or less. I can’t vouch for any of these because I have a lot to do besides begging for test models. There are so many! Here’s the top rated ones I found that have (a) heart monitoring, (b) waterproof (c) sleep monitoring, and (d) both Android and iOS compatible. Have fun shopping!

So, the watches are smart, but they can’t make anyone smart or wise about wellness. unless you have some guidance and motivation. Why not schedule a free consultation, or at least contact us with questions or advice. We can chat about your goals and how I can help you reach them. The status that has real value is “healthy and fit.”
